This impressive chamber was built as the final resting place for prominent religious figures of the monastery. With its striking architecture and serene atmosphere, it stands out as one of the most remarkable spaces within the complex.
The chamber has a square layout and is accessed through a grand pointed-arch entrance adorned with two levels of intricate muqarnas—a hallmark of traditional stone craftsmanship. Inside, an elegant eight-pointed star vault rises to about 11 meters, supported by four trompes that transition gracefully to the dome.
On the north, south, and east walls, visitors will notice three decorative niches, while the west wall, where the entrance is located, features two niches. Especially notable are the eastern niches, decorated with shell-shaped carvings and painted using natural dyes. These are framed by ornamental columns and finely detailed capitals.
The structure is made mainly of finely cut stone, with basalt used on the exterior of the dome’s skylight, creating a striking contrast and allowing natural light to illuminate the interior.
