This monumental entrance gate is constructed from marble and finely cut stone. It features a low-arched doorway flanked by two columns adorned with interwoven patterns and vegetal relief decorations. The upper section is completed with a pointed-arch pediment, where two inscriptions—each consisting of five lines—are placed within a single panel. These inscriptions are carved in relief using the "Garshuni" script, which employs Syriac letters to write Arabic.
Right Inscription (Translation): "During the time of the head of the monastery, Monk Gabriel from Tur Abdin–Bate, these steps were constructed. At that time, Patriarch Abdallah was in office. Year 1909 AD."
Left Inscription (Translation): "In the construction of this building, Monk Yusuf, the scribe Monk Gewargis, and Monk Tuma made great efforts. Year 2220 of the Greek calendar (1909 AD).
These inscriptions indicate that the gate was restored in 1909 and that the person in charge of the monastery at the time was Monk Gabriel. The left inscription also lists the names of the monks who contributed to the restoration.
